Could I be a member? I know nothing about Producton Arts!

You do not need to know anything about anything to be a member, just an inexhaustible enthusiasm and love for cakes!

When you join us, we will ensure that we know what it is you are interested in.  Then we will, through our Co-Ordinator, try and crew you in that area where practical and possible.  It is important to us however, that we get you a broad knowledge and understanding of all aspects of all technical areas. You won’t be on your own though, don’t worry because we also aim to appoint a shadow mentor to help you on your journey.

Whether you are 16 or 60, we always ensure that new members have someone they can turn to as their mentor and say “I’m afraid I don’t understand”

What’s next?

You will have more questions than we have immediate answers, but do have a look at the FAQ section at the bottom of the page. If your questions are left unasnwered, feel free to contact us!

For various logical reasons, we cannot of course have unknown people just dropping in, to a production fit-up therefore, if you are thinking of joining, but would like a try-before-buy session, please click and fill in the form first, so we have some information for legal and insurance purposes.

Our Home

Most of the events we assist with take part at Petersfield’s Festival Hall.

The venue is very well equipped considering that anything you do in it you have to provide the workforce for and do yourself — yes, that‘s one reason why we formed!  We have plenty to do.

State of the art technology is present in both sound and lighting and much more is often hired in from suppliers for relevant productions too — but that’s why we help as we know where to go to  get it at discounted rates for our “customers”.

Being a volunteer

Everyone  within The Green ‘A’ Team is voluntary, and proud of it too.

Throughout various generations, local townsfolk have contributed and assisted in fundraising events and activities to assist in the continued enhancements the Festival Hall has received.  Various plaques commemorating this are placed around the auditorium.

Like the look of what we do? Why not join us and become a member of our award winning organisation today.

We’re a friendly bunch of volunteers always looking for new, enthusiastic members to learn, laugh and labour with!

No Experience required… But if you do know about this sort of thing, we’d love to have you just as much!

Because of the type of work you will be involved with and the potentially hazardous environments you work in. Even though you are not “employed” to work, the Law with regard to Health & Safety requires an adherence and respect to it and non-compliance or ignorance of the legal issues is not a defence in law.

16 Years of age is also the age of use for access equipment at venues managed and owned by Petersfield Town Council - Access Equipment refers to ladders, Mobile Elevated Working Platforms (MEWPS) and Tallescopes.

Absolutely not! get that form in now! We have plenty of ground based work that need doing, and not everything we do is Lighting either - there’s Stage Management and the like needed too!

Neither did a lot of the current membership when they joined, and that’s why we operate a strict probationary period for new Members. You have allocated mentoring to ensure that you cannot do any harm to yourself or those around you.

True, there is sometimes a lot of technology backstage, but at the same time, there isn’t too!  Some productions use the magic of theatre to create the illusion of theatricality but actually, it can be literally bits of wire and “cat-gut” but in an audience it looks very technical - but you will never know unless you come along and have a go!

Once you are a member, you'll have access to our 'Backstage Area' and mailing lists where our schedule and coordinator will keep you up to date with our current movements.
